Stay Away

From goals that confuse, designed as ideas to create

From task lists that drains, camouflaged as small gains

From giving up too soon, veiled as ‘exploring something new’

From temptations to control, presented as opportunities to better

From obsessing over daily results, cloaked as monitoring the growth

From getting off course by interruptions, considered as 'urgencies' of life

From making everyone happy, advocated as investments in relationships

From dwelling on knowing about everything, followed as being on top of all

From fretting over winning every argument portrayed as having negotiation skills

Trying to read ...

I pulled open the curtains, adjusted my cushions, put on my socks, stretched my legs, opened the book, took out the bookmark, and …

my muscles relaxed, my mind stopped rolling, my breathing became heavy, my eyelids got heavier, the letters began to float, and eventually got blurred, before my eyes shut down.
