Terrible Tiny Bargain

Not a day had passed when she hadn't prayed to end her misery, but the day her daughter in law stepped in to the house, she saw her only opportunity to taste power.

Why change anything now? She reasoned with herself while the new daughter-in-law waited at the doorstep for her blessings.

III.

Which sane person would refuse power, especially one that has come after years of subservience? She thought with a twinkle in her eyes as she blessed her new daughter-in-law with long life for her husband and loads of children.
